Synopsis:
Located on the landside of the South Cargo Precinct, the Cainiao Smart Gateway Logistics Centre is a top-notch facility developed by a joint venture led by CaiNiao Network, a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, with China Aviation Group and Yuantong Express as major stakeholders. This state-of-the-art logistics centre is designed to fulfill the HKIA Cargo Development Strategy, focusing on air cargo (B2B) and e-commerce (B2C) operations. The building stands up to 118m above ground, spanning 12 main floors. Its high headroom design allows for the installation of the first-class automated logistics systems. Covering more than 380,000m² GFA, it has set to be one of the largest and most technically advanced logistics centres in Hong Kong.
About the Speaker:
Ir Henry Wong is a Director of WSP Hong Kong Ltd. He has been working for the firm since 1994 and he is the project director in charge of Cainiao Smart Gateway Logistics Centre project. Ir. Wong has over 30 years of experience in high-rises, large scale public facilities, commercial, residential, educational campus development and MiC construction on major projects across China, Hong Kong, Macau and Middle East. He is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (MHKIE), a Registered Professional Engineer (RPE) and member of Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE).
