This seminar will introduce the major constraints for foundation design in Schedule Area No.2 such as complex geology, presence of cavity and vibration effect on existing aged building for audience. Ir Prof. Choy will also share with members on advantage and disadvantage on several types of foundation and which will be cost and time efficient for construction site classified as “very difficult site” by GEO. Meanwhile , Ir Prof. Choy will explain the limitation and effective control on vibration effect by using such as vibro hammer for Driven H-Pile, Silent Press-in System for ELS work and rigid vibration assessment to minimize the effect to the surround buildings and environments. He will also share his experience on the foundation construction in the Marble zone area.

About Speaker:

Ir Prof. Adam Siu Chung Choy has over 31 years of civil and structural engineering design and construction experience in large-scale multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects such as the Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, Central Government Office Development (Tamar), Hillside Escalator Link between Central & Mid-Level and MTRC Contract 501 Hong Kong Central and Tunnel.
