Synopsis:
Several marine crossing (marine bridge) are being constructed in these years. For example, Tuen Mun Chek Lap Kok Link Southern Connection Viaduct, part of the road system of Hong Kong Zhuhai Macau Bridge project, and marine portion of Lam Tin Tseung Kwan O. Besides, Cross Bay Link is being planned and under design. These crossings are usually span across the navigation channel, proper design consideration to protect the bridge structure against the ship impact load is therefore required. This seminar will give design engineer a general introduction to the design philosophy of ship impact protection approaches, which is a decision with consideration of risk assessment, structural system and cost effectiveness.
